A (not so) new nation, in the middle of the USA

The Lakota tribe has declared its independence from the United States, and are withdrawing from all of their treaties. I support them 100% in this, although I think the United States is probably not taking them seriously. They have declared that their citizens do not need to pay taxes, so they probably will start being taken seriously around May 1st. I wish them the best of luck, and I’m eager to see how this pans out. This country has a history of dealing violently with secessionist behavior, but I think the Lakota may be legally right, and the current global attitude towards the USA would make any hostile action on our part extremely damaging. I would imagine that Bush is planning on ignoring this issue until it becomes some other president’s problem, if he can. If he can’t, it’ll be “cowboys and indians” all over again.
