update: “Wiretapping” + on-duty police = no charges

Just got an update on the Pennsylvania case of the man arrested for wiretapping (sans wire) the police when they pulled him over for a traffic violation. From the District Attorney:

‘When police are audio- and video-recording traffic stops with notice to the subjects, similar actions by citizens, even if done in secret, will not result in criminal charges. The law itself might need to be revised.’

Unfortunately, that’s just a county-wide policy. The law at the state level still needs adjustment.
