But I just got a new video card!

I’ve been a longtime fan of Nvidia. Even before I switched to Linux (which favors Nvidia). I knew there was a storm on the horizon when AMD bought ATI. My favorite CPU maker was now going to be intertwined with “that other graphics card”. Well, the announcement was recently made that AMD is going to open-source the video drivers for ATI cards, which is a shoe-in to make ATI replace Nvidia as the card of choice for penguin-heads. Unless, of course, Nvidia follows suit. Which would be the best thing for everybody, but I’m not holding my breath. Anyhow, I’m locked into Nvidia for quite some time to come, seeing as how I just got a brand new 7100GS to go with my new non-AGP motherboard.
