The hard part is…
Posted by wolfger on October 9, 2009
It’s so easy to fall in love but hard to find someone who will catch you.
~Author Unknown
Harder yet is to find someone who will keep catching you…

Mutual weirdness
Posted by wolfger on October 7, 2009
We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.
~Author Unknown
…and I’ll comment on that with another quote:
Let me lay it on the line
I got a little freakiness inside
And you know that the man
Has got to deal with it
~Adina Howard, “Freak Like Me” by Sugababes

We see what we want to see…
Posted by wolfger on October 5, 2009
“True love is a discipline in which each divines the secret self of the other and refuses to believe in the mere daily self.”
~William Butler Yeats
And so the answer to “What does she see in him?” is clearly “something you will probably never see”.

Who needs sleep?
Posted by wolfger on October 2, 2009
You know you’re in love when you don’t want to fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.
~Dr. Seuss
Sadly (or thankfully?) this is only true of new love. After a while, sleep becomes important again. Especially when the bills pile up and the job starts early. Romance is great, but not very practical. :-p

No reason required

“To find someone who will love you for no reason, and to shower that person with reasons, that is the ultimate happiness.”
~Robert Brault

Count your joys
Posted by wolfger on September 28, 2009
“Man is fond of counting his troubles, but he does not count his joys. If he counted them up as he ought to, he would see that every lot has enough happiness provided for it.”
~Fyodor Dostoevsky
Reflect on the good things, and forget the bad as soon as you can safely do so.

What an endorsement!
Posted by wolfger on October 15, 2008
Christopher Buckley, son of William F. Buckley Jr, endorsed Obama and promptly tendered his resignation to the (conservative) National Review.
Eight years of ‘conservative’ government has brought us a doubled
national debt, ruinous expansion of entitlement programs, bridges to
nowhere, poster boy Jack Abramoff and an ill-premised, ill-waged war
conducted by politicians of breathtaking arrogance. As a sideshow, it
brought us a truly obscene attempt at federal intervention in the Terry
Schiavo case

Quote of the day
Posted by wolfger on August 6, 2008
My theory is that if you look confident you can pull off anything – even if you have no clue what you’re doing.
– Jessica Alba
…and for the most part, I agree with her. Though I find it does help immensely to have a clue.
